What is the Great Kiwi Summer Festival?
The Great Kiwi Summer Festival brings together a variety of events to provide 2-days of family fun and entertainment on the shores of Lake Karapiro in Cambridge.
What are some of the events that are taking place?
In 2024 the Great Kiwi Summer Festival will feature the Shaw's Illuminate Light and Sound Show (Saturday night only) , Cambridge Hunting and Fishing Outdoor Expo, Waterworld, Armistice in Cambridge and Fieldine Franklin Farm Freestyle Dreams! See more here.

Saturday and Sunday 9 - 10 November.
Where is the festival located?
Mighty River Domain, on the shores of Lake Karapiro, Cambridge.
What does my ticket include?
A ticket to each day includes access to all the events that taking place.
While a majority of the activities are free to view, watch and engage with there are some pay-to-play activities.
For those wishing to attend the Shaw's Illuminate Light and Sound Show on Saturday night, you will need to purchase a ticket to the Festival which will give you access to the full day of other events and activities.

Your contribution helps us cover costs and to put us in the position to be able to continue to provide amazing experience in future years as well as supporting local charities such as the Cambridge Volunteer Fire Brigade and the Armistice in Cambridge Incorporated Society.
What time does it start?
The Great Kiwi Festival will be open from:
11am- 9pm Saturday. This is to factor in the Shaw's Illuminate Light and Sound Show that will start at Sunset (approx 8.30pm). Come for the whole day to experience everything else the festival has too offer. Check out our 'what's on' page for the showcases throughout the day in the lead up to Illuminate.
9am - 3pm Sunday.
What if I just want to attend the Light Show?
The advertised ticket prices remain the same for the Saturday but we highly recommend you making the most of the other events that you can enjoy prior to the Light and Sound Show.
Was it free last year?
Yes both the Great Kiwi Summer and Illuminate event were free to attend last year.
Unfortunately with rising costs it is no longer sustainable to continue this but we have kept the ticket fees to a minimum that we believe still offer great value for money and a terrific day or days out for the family.
Where does the money go?
By supporting this event, you are supporting the Cambridge Volunteer Fire Brigade and Armistice in Cambridge as an not for profit incorprated society. The organisers are busy finding sponsors to pay for the majority of the costs for the weekend. Our thanks to Shaw’s, Fieldline, Waipa Networks, Cambridge Hunting and Fishing, GL Events and KRI for the event support to date. Any shortfall of operation costs will need to be covered by entrance fees.
What if the weather is bad?
Parts of the Event will take place outdoors and as such may from time to time be subject to adverse weather. Patrons are advised to bring suitable clothing and equipment to protect from weather conditions including but not limited to: rain; hail; wind; sunshine.
Events which are scheduled to take place outdoors will only be cancelled in the event that the weather is such that it poses a safety threat to patrons and staff or pose a significant impact to its intended activites. The decision to cancel the Event or any part thereof is made in the Organiser’s sole discretion and may be made at any time up to the Event or during the Event. There are no refund in the event of the event being cancelled due to these reasons.
Can I get a refund?
There are no refunds for this event.
